Questions and answers

What tax departments want to know before the first conversation.

The questions we hear most often in conversations with group tax departments. Answered briefly, without a sales pitch.

Who and what for

Who is Pillarworks made for?

For group tax departments that want to master Pillar 2 in‑house – from a lean team to a department with many entities and jurisdictions. The benchmark is the advisory work of the large audit firms, not another spreadsheet.

What does Pillarworks cover?

The entire Pillar 2 cycle: group structure and data entry, CbCR safe harbour tests, minimum tax computation, provision for the financial statements, GloBE Information Return as validated XML, analyses and exports. Plus LuCy as AI assistant for subject-matter and usage questions.

We are in the safe harbour in almost every jurisdiction and only need the GIR. Does that fit?

Yes. “Report only” is a dedicated scope: enter structure and country reports, run the safe harbour tests, generate the GloBE Information Return – only the provision figures are omitted. If a jurisdiction drops out of the safe harbour, you step up to the full computation on the same platform – without re-entering data.

Do we need an ERP integration?

No. You start with the data your tax department already has: the country-by-country report as Excel or XML, the ownership data and the tax positions of the jurisdictions. A system integration is not a prerequisite.

Technical depth

Which country profiles exist for the GIR?

Pillarworks generates the GIR XML following the OECD schema with country-specific profiles for Germany, Sweden and Austria, each checked against the authorities’ error catalogues.

Does Pillarworks compute German special cases?

Yes. Tax groups, partnerships and flow-through entities, partially owned parent entities and the reduction for a flow-through ultimate parent are covered in line with the German Minimum Tax Act.

How traceable are the results?

Your tax department provides the data, the software makes the way to the result traceable: calculation steps and reference to the OECD rule and local law at the result, live documentation of the computation, years that can be locked, a computation trail per jurisdiction in the Excel export.

Which languages does the platform work in?

German, English and Swedish – in full: interface, exports, entry templates and rule references.

What happens if a jurisdiction drops out of the safe harbour?

The delta view flags jurisdictions that newly require full data entry in the reporting year. For them the full computation follows on the same platform – the data already entered is retained.

Which exports do we get?

GIR XML with country profile, Excel analyses with a computation trail per jurisdiction, CbCR and safe harbour exports, constituent entity overviews, the organisation chart as PDF and the project file.

How is a corrected filing prepared?

A previously generated GIR can be imported; group structure and data are pre-populated. The changes are entered, validated and exported as a new GIR XML.

LuCy and data

What exactly is LuCy?

The AI assistant built into Pillarworks. She explains at every input field what belongs there, answers questions on the rules and on using the platform in the chat and explains anomalies in the results. LuCy is software help, not tax advice.

Where do LuCy’s answers come from?

From a professionally curated Pillar 2 knowledge base, not from the open internet.

What happens to our data with LuCy?

LuCy is a dedicated, optional module of the platform. Before the start, we disclose in the technical and contractual documentation which data LuCy processes and where.

Working together

How is our data protected?

Your data belongs to you: group structure, computations and reports can be exported at any time as Excel, GIR‑XML and project file. Hosting, roles and permissions, backups, deletion, contract documents and reporting channels are agreed with your IT and data protection teams before the start.

What data do we have to provide for a demo?

None. The demo runs on the fictional group Aurora Energie SE, and the first conversation needs none of your figures either. Your own data only comes into play when you decide – after coordination with your IT and data protection teams and on a contractual basis.

How do we get started?

Start with a one-hour demo using a fictional group, with the team that develops the software. You do not need to provide your own data. We then discuss the feature scope and access for your team. A form or a short email to info@lctechnology.de is enough.

What role does LOHR+COMPANY play?

L+C Technology develops Pillarworks and does not provide tax advice. Professional support beyond the software is provided on request by LOHR+COMPANY GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft – under a separate engagement you enter into directly with them. Neither requires the other.

Which documents do we receive before the start?

You receive the technical and contractual documentation on operation, data storage, roles and data processing in the conversation before the start – aligned with your IT and data protection teams.

Who is behind Pillarworks?

Four founders with roots in tax practice and in the operations of an audit firm. The team has taken Pillar 2 through the entire process several times, up to the electronic submission of the GIR. Developed in Düsseldorf, tax experts and developers at the same table.
